Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is a feeling of chronic or acute tension, fear or apprehension. Extreme anxiety can include feelings of dread and panic attacks. This can be initiated by a person, feeling, situation and/or place. The symptoms of anxiety are revealed by the body: sweaty palms, upset stomach, tight muscles, racing heart, dizziness and the need to escape are representative examples. Anxiety can be treated both pharmacologically and with psychotherapy. The clinical categories of anxiety disorders include phobias, obsessive-compulsive, hypochondria, hysteria and some form of depression.

Anxiety often reduces a person's functioning, restricts their freedom and limits their life experience. Holistic Psychology Associates have specialized in helping people overcome anxiety for more than 20 years. We use individual, family and group approaches with an emphasis on "helping you help yourself". Restructuring thinking, creating new inner visual images and relaxing the body's tension habits are a few of the therapy goals.
